Te Wiki Āhua o Aotearoa; Āhua Fashion Week (Auckland)

Te Wiki Āhua o Aotearoa was a debut fashion event held at Raynham Park on Auckland's famous Karangahape Road. Organised to fill the gap left by the postponement of NZFW, the five-day event showcased the talent of young creatives in Aotearoa. The event featured themed runways, including "Life Cycle of A Butterfly," which celebrated slow fashion, "Evil & Parties," highlighting alternative designers, and "Boys Cry," focused on streetwear. The show emphasised inclusivity, creativity, and solidarity, with all proceeds donated to aid Gaza. It successfully celebrated the vibrant and diverse talents of emerging designers, pushing boundaries and offering a platform for youth-led innovation in fashion.

I was grateful for the opportunity to have my collection be the first shown on the runway during the "Boys Cry" night. I presented three looks from my Master's collection, alongside four additional looks that continued the concept of denim deconstruction and reconstruction explored in my thesis.

It was an honour to be part of the event, where I had the chance to share my work alongside many talented designers. The collection was well-received, and it was a privilege to contribute to a celebration of youthful creativity and innovation in Aotearoa.
